What could be more nerve-racking than a clogged up sewer!.

This has happened to all of us – the water fast submerging our toes while are taking a shower. It’s definitely not a very good feeling! A obstructed drain pipe sounds horrible to begin with. And it’s not confined to the bath and shower, you could be brushing your teeth getting ready for bed only to be confronted with the sink filling up rapidly. Nobody likes to deal with clogged drains because they are a real hassle and they give an impression of being unsanitary (because they are). Yet many residential bathrooms or kitchen will suffer from a stopped drainpipe incident at one particular point or another. The best way to manage clogged up bathroom drainage is to learn how to unclog them.

What Causes blocked drainage in your home?.

Clogging occurs when substances like hair, dust and other bits and pieces get trapped in the region where the bathroom drain pipe is connected to the main drain pipe. Everyday products like soaps, shampoos, detergents and so on add to the problem by building up around the solid material. When the offending mass becomes too dense to allow any water to flow through freely, the problem is identified as a plugged drain pipe. When waste water drainage very slowly or just stands stubbornly in the washbasin, you know you have a choked drain pipe problem.

Clear Up Your drains fast.

If you happen to have a blocked sink or bath, there are some steps you can take to clear up the passage ways and create a normal flow once again. Of course, in either the sink or the bathtub, the first thing you should do is remove the plug. In the case of the bathroom sink, you can remove the stopper by either pulling it out, unscrewing the nuts that hold it in proper position. In case of your bath, the plug can be unscrewed at the mouth of the drainage or the overflow plate can be removed to expose the assembly.

You may be able to see the blockage clearly after the plug has been taken out. It will most certainly appear like a collection of hair and other particles covered with slimy material inside the drain’s piping. Reach down into the pipe and pull out as much as possible. If the debris is further down than your hand can reach, push in a bent wire or coat hanger and coax the clumps out. Removing the hair, detergent residues and the rest of the material will surely solve your problem.

However other methods can be used in case the clog is unreachable even with a hanger. A drain pipe plunger can help you get rid of clogs that are too deep down to reach by inserting your hand. Begin by covering the overflow drainpipe with a wet towel so as to create a stronger suction from the plunger. Now put the plunger over the drainpipe and move it up and down continuously at an even pace. You may find that this suction-push action of the plunger loosens the blocked debris down the pipe and the collected water now drains freely.

Even the plunger may not clear the most dense and hardened matter inside your plumbing – that’s when you will have to deploy a chemical drainpipe clearing product. It should be noted that chemical drain cleaners should only be used as a final solution as the chemical substances are harmful and could damage your bathroom fixtures and sanitary fittings.

Call in the drains Professionals.

If you are unable to unblock the drains even after trying all the methods, it is only advisable to call a professional plumber who has experience of drains work. A professional plumber should quickly solve your problem with his special tools and equipment. Taking professional help will cost you a bit but it is definitely worth it.
