What could be causing a sewage smell in my bathroom AND kitchen drains?
The order is strongest in the bathroom sink and shower drains, but occasionally comes through the kitchen drain too. The pipes are probably 40+ years old and I have no idea how long ago they were serviced. Bathroom cleaners poured down the drains help temporarily but it comes back.

You might have a plugged vent on your roof. All drains are vented to allow gas to flow out of your house. You may want to climb up and see if a bird has nested in the vent.
Slime build-up and your traps aren’t working properly. Clean them out. They should have water in them to prevent smell and gases from coming back into your home- Get a good plumber to fix it for you.
POUR 1 WHOLE Gallon of Pure Bleach down each drain… then rinse with hot water for 30 min………. my aunts house did the same thing…. do this once a week for 3 months, then it should be better, so you can do this only once a month.. Pure Bleach, not the perfume kind, the STRONG BLEACH SMELL.. it will kill odors and be bette, so do this once a week, for 3 months, pour 1 whole gallon of pure bleach, once a week, then once a month…… good lucks.
there should be water in the u-bend of the kitchen and bathroom sinks that prevents the venting of sewer gases . If the system is vented to a roof vent and that is blocked then flushing a drain may suck the water out of the u_bend (or s-bend) and you will ge5t the sewer smell .
if the pipes are old then so are the ones that go out in the yard and to the main drain where the smell is probably coming from. Over the years there’s probably a lot of silt and gummed stuff in there and that would need to be cleaned out probably by the county. Before you call the county you’d need proof of that by a plumber making that determination. Have you tried to dig any gunk out of the drains yourself (not just pouring stuff down there)?
sounds like you have no water in the s drains or p traps
prob the air pipe on the roof is plugged up I had the same problem take a water hose up on the roof and flush each air vent out I have a clean out for the kitchen sink as I watch you should see the black sludge that came out of the clean out as my pipes are old as well 45 years
Are you in the Philippines ? It is common practise here not to vent plumbing. That way you will always have sewer gas bubbling up in your drains. Install a vent and the problem will go away.
There are NO plumbers in these Islands.
