Sewer line replacement/repacking trench?

sewer replacement

We recently replaced our sewer line and are left with a 2-3 foot high mountain range of dirt in our front yard. Will this go away with settling or do we need to have our plumbers pack it down more before we pay them? The trench was roughly 10 foot deep and the contract said they would smooth it to ground level and mound for settling. Is 2-3 foot of dirt necessary for that? Thanks for the reply.

All that dirt came out of the hole, and it will settle back in, in time. If you want it to look pretty now, they could level it, but in 6 months you’ll be bringing in fill…They usually just let it resettle on it’s own…happy flushing!!

2-3 feet sounds kind of high!!! I’ve been a commercial electrician for years and we’ve never had anything like that. It’s gets packed back to grade to pass inspection.

Did they bring in new gravel to adjust the slope and backfill around the pipe?

Also, if they didn’t compact the dirt every couple of feet during the backfill, some of that settling could take years to subside.

ok i install septic tanks daily , we dig out 17ftby 6ft deep
we expect , about 1/4 of the soil to be left o nthe top of bank
however , its not 2-3ft high , this needs to be leveled out
til l there only about 12 high max
insist they level it , or remove it ,
if they installed a sewer pipe, , i bet they had gravel , down there, hence why they have so much left over, which is normal
but you dont need it , that will take about three years to go down ,
so get them back on it ……….
