Points to work out that choked drains pipes issue

What can you do if you are stuck with a clogged drain pipe? Well the easiest way to unclog your bathroom drain pipe is to use a drainage plunger. The entire process of opening stopped drain with a plunger is simple and straightforward. The plunger will not work if you vigorously push it up and down very but not like a pneumatic drill. To achieve the desired effect, the drain pipe should be totally covered with the head of the plunger and then the bell-shaped rubber must be pressed down slowly; next the handle should be pulled up fast and with good enough force to produce an effective suction. A minor blockage can be pulled up and out of the sink or drainpipe through the sucking action of the plunger. You may notice small overflow openings in your bath or sink and you should always remember to block these up with a wet paper towel or sponge to create maximum suction.

You can also use chemical cleaners you can buy in the shops to unclog your drain, these uses certain chemicals to open up the blockage in the drain. However this option should be used only after you have used the plunger to unclog your drain. You should allow the chemicals time to take effect and then, once the material that is clogging the drain has been disintegrated you can flush it out with hot water. During the cleaning operation, chemicals and dirt may spill over your clothes, therefore as a precaution wear old clothes. Putting on eye cover will be a good idea if you intend to plunge again and prevent the splattering of left over chemicals into your eye. Also remember to read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully so that you do not create new issues.

The next thing you can attempt to use if your plunger is ineffective is to loosen the nuts holding the P-trap in place with pliers or a pipe wrench. Removing the drain pipe trap can release a sudden rush of waste water, so keep a mop and pail handy, put a bucket underneath the p-trap before you disconnect it. In order to avoid scratching the chrome surface of your pipes while at the same time getting a tight hold up them, you can cover the metal jaws of your wrench with electrical tape. With the trap opened, insert gloved hands to remove any debris that may be blocking the bends. If you don’t see anything, the problem might unfortunately go far deeper and may be located between the trap and the drains soil stack.

To unclog the toilet, you should use a toilet auger to get at these deep seated obstructions. If you are attempting to clean the drain of your tub or sink, you should use a drainpipe snake. The flexible snake wire can be inserted deep into pipework of smaller diameter. A plumbers drainpipe snake has an adjustable handle which is used to make a drill into the clog, it then becomes easy to remove the obstruction by pulling it upwards. The P-trap should be reconnected once the obstruction is cleared, slowly flush the drain pipe with hot water to confirm that there is no obstruction and that there are no leaks. Finally, you should double check that everything is sealed properly, tightly screwed into place and make sure that the P-trap does not have any leaks.

If all the above enlisted methods fail to unclog your bathroom drainpipe, then you should call a professional waste pipes contractor. Some common problems that are beyond the capabilities of the common homeowner are blockages in the soil stack or the sewer service by tree roots or even a collapsed pipe which could be the result of old age or deterioration of the pipes because of Mother Nature or an unforeseen Act of God.
