How often do you clean (snake) your sewer system at home?

sewer maintenance

Typically, I clean (snake) my sewer once a year. There are 3 of us living in the house. Does anyone have any alternative advice or suggestions of the time frame of sewer maintenance.

By the way I live in a city where we are connected to a sewer system.

You shouldn’t have to at all if the plumbing is installed properly.

I clean (snake) my sewer twice a year since I have alot of trees in my yard. I sometimes have to get the City department to do it.

I have to do it twice a year due to tree roots and a slight break in the line. Putting copper sulfate in the line retards root growth, and using sulfuric acid and/or main line cleaner (a bacteria that eats away the sludge) can help keep the lines clean.

putting chemicals in the line can also damage the pipes.

A maintance drain cleaning is nesassary only once a year. All home owners are diffrent. unless you are having a problem then of course this will need to be done more often
