How can I get rid of a sewage smell in my basement?
I recently had a large leak in the main sewage drain in the basement of my house due to tree roots which had made their way into my pipes. I have had the drain repaired and the pipes cleaned out, but now my basement smells like the sewage that spilled out over the floor. I have kept the windows open in the basement for ventilation, and I have mopped the area with bleach multiple times per day for a few days. Any helpful hints for getting rid of this smell?
about the only thing i would do (besides what you have already done) is to put a LARGE fan down there with the windows open and let the air circulate for about a week.
Try some baking soda and/or charcoal to absorb the odors and run the fan.
