Blocked Drains – A Stellar Concern!.
This has happened to all of us – the water fast submerging our feet while are taking a shower. How disgusting! the drain pipe is blocked . What about that wet sinking feeling when you are brushing your teeth at the washbasin on a lousy Monday morning and the filled sink just refuses to drain pipe!. Plugged drainage are not only a major nuisance for household work; they are also unhygienic health hazards. But it is something that most people will have to deal with every once in a while. But there are ways to unblock bathroom drains easily and can make this unenviable job a lot easier.
What Causes obstructed drainage in your home?.
Blocked drainage can result from trapped solid objects such as hair, dust and particles between your bathroom drain pipe and the attached pipes. The problem aggravates when bathroom products like soap, shampoo, conditioner, detergent, and the like begin to accumulate on the mass. Eventually the clumps of accumulated matter prevent water from draining out quickly or may even completely seal the drain hole. If the water has started building up quickly in your tub or sink, then without delay you should unclog the drain pipe.
So how can you unclog these drains?.
Time to roll up your sleeves and tackle the clog – here are a few tips on what you can do to unblock your bathtub or sink drain. First of all the stopper should be removed. In case of a bathroom sink, the plug can be removed easily with a simple pull or it might need the complex effort of unlocking the hook keeping it in place from under the sink. In case of your bathtub, the plug can be unscrewed at the mouth of the drainage or the overflow plate can be removed to expose the assembly.
The removal of the plug may allow you to spot the cause for the blockage. Those greasy lumps of entangled hair and residue can be seen sticking to the sides and corners of the drainpipe. Put on a pair of gloves and extract whatever clogs comes within reach. You may find it difficult to get at the clog, in which case you could use something like a wire clothes hanger to fish the material out. There is a good chance that by removing this mass of material the problem will be rectified and your water will flow smoothly.
In a case of deeper clogging, your hand or hooked wire may not do the trick – you may have to try the next step. Use a drainpipe plunger to loosen the blockage that is deeper down the pipework. In the first step, use a wet cloth to cover the overflowing drainpipe, and then use the plunger; this will make the suction stronger. Now, place the plunger straight away on the opening of the drainpipe, and thump it up and down a number of times. If you are successful, any water, if trapped, will be immediately drained when the plunger is released.
You can unblock the drains through chemical drain pipe cleaner too if a drainage plunger does not work for you. The chemicals have the potential to harm your bathroom fixtures, and they are dangerous too; for this reason, they should be used only when all the above methods fail to unblock your drainpipe.
